HISTORY OF THE COMPANY – CURRYS PC WORLD
Currys started life as a bicycle retailer founded by Henry Curry in 1884 in Leicester after he began to manufacture his own bikes, way before there was a voucher code. The retailer grew in popularity and moved twice to bigger premises before Henry formed a business partnership with sons and diversified the stock available to toys, radios and gramophones. Having expanded so rapidly, the business was floated on the stock exchange for the first time by 1927. In 1932, the company stopped making its own bikes but continued to stock them made by third parties and instead introduced white goods and electricals into stores. By 1984, there were 570 stores across the UK; twice as many as the company who were about to acquire it.
Bought by Dixons, the new owners quickly saw the potential in the existing brand reputation and so kept stores functioning under the Currys name as a separate entity. Eventually, they merged their Dixons stores into Currys and dual-branded PC World superstores, to best benefit from the existing brand.

CURRYS PC WORLD FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- “When buying an item in the sale are you able to use a Currys voucher with it as well? ” It is always best to check all the terms and conditions.
