3. Dorothy Perkins Discount Code, Promo Codes & Vouchers
One of the best ways for students to get a price reduction is by using a promo code.
In chapter 2 we saw that you can get a standard 10% NUS code by proving your student status.
However, this funky fashion retailer also releases online voucher codes throughout the year which anyone can use (so no fiddly validation process) and sometimes they offer a bigger discount than 10%.
They typically last between 7 to 14 days so you have to be quick.
The Squirrel is always on the lookout for a good DP discount code (as well as the nuts of course) so check out our savings section which lists any live codes as well as any other ways to save at dorothyperkins.com.
4. Sales Alerts & Savings Tips
Promo codes are all well and good but did you know that students can make the biggest savings when the Dorothy Perkins sales are on.
The best way to check if there is a sale on is on this page on dorothyperkins.com.
They also have a permanent clearance page which is great to check out too for the latest bargains.
Plus in our savings section we also list the biggest and best sales, plus other great ways to save too. We update this regularly so give it a squiz.
Dorothy Perkins also takes part in many of the big sales throughout the year and we’ve broken it down for you below. If it’s coming up to this time you might want to hold off until a big sale is on. It’s a great way for students to save!
Black Friday & Cyber Monday
Dorothy Perkins goes into Black Friday hard. They usually have a teaser sale which runs until the Thursday before with selected fashion lines up to 50% off.
Then, when Black Friday comes practically everything goes for half price. This is one of the best times of the year to bag a Dotty P bargain.
Christmas, Boxing Day & January Sales
You have to be quick with the Dorothy Perkins Christmas sales as they have been known to start on 22nd December!
Again they tend to put everything in at 50% off. If you have your eye on something special then get it then as when it’s gone, its gone.
Then past Boxing Day they add further reductions.
Mid-Season Spring Sale
This sale usually occurs around the end of February and beginning of March.
All fashion lines are included and the discount is 25% this time.
5. Store Overview & Buyers Guide
Multinational womenswear retailer Dorothy Perkins sells both its own brand of clothing and others across 400 UK stores, online, and some outlets elsewhere in the world. It also has 2,500 concessions in larger department stores such as House of Fraser and Debenhams – so it really is a brand you can find anywhere!
Owned by the Arcadia Group, Dorothy Perkins, or ‘Dotty Ps’ as it’s often known, is an exciting, versatile and feminine brand that sells a range of clothing, accessories and shoes for women of all ages, shapes and sizes; including maternity, petite, plus-size and tall ranges. Dorothy Perkins shoes come in sizes 3-9, with wide fit styles available. The Arcadia Group is owned by businessman Philip Green and includes other high street brands such as Burton, Evans, Ms Selfridge, Topshop, Topman and Wallis. Needless to say, they know a thing or two about selling quality clothes!
Positioned amongst the other brands in the portfolio, Dorothy Perkins is a budget retailer; with Dorothy Perkins coats starting at a price point of £22.50, Dorothy Perkins tops from £2.00 and Dorothy Perkins jeans from £6.00.
Through the years, Dotty Ps has been marketed alongside famous faces such as Yasmin le Bon and Helena Christensen. Now opting for more accessible ‘real women’ models, you’re more likely to find a size 16 or an older lady in their ads than a supermodel, to reflect their customer base. The company is also strictly committed to their corporate responsibility programme, ‘Fashion Footprint’, that incorporates environmental and social considerations in the business and supply chain. This means that you can shop with peace of mind that you’re not funding anything unethical or irresponsible. Amongst other things, Dorothy Perkins aims to: continually reduce their carbon footprint through packaging, air miles, waste and energy use; to benefit the communities within which it operates via charity work, education and social integration; to adhere to the Better Cotton Initiative and the Bangladesh Accord on Safety and Fire; and to treat all employees fairly in a safe, happy, healthy working environment.
You’ll find a Dorothy Perkins presence (be it a store or concession) on almost every high street across the UK, so it’s a firm favourite amongst students and bargain hunters alike because its so easily accessible to all! With an online selection that’s updated daily, you can find great value and quality clothes and accessories even if you don’t have a physical bricks-and-mortar shop near you: there’s no excuse for not hunting down a bargain! A Student Discount Squirrel favourite, we also recommend keeping an eye on their clearance section online – it often hosts some hefty discount offers as a result of returned stock that’s gone unsold in stores or as a result of lines being replaced quickly by newer trends and fashions. There’s some real bargains to be had here, particularly in the maternity, petite, plus size and tall sections.

Skinny polyurethane belts can jazz up any outfit and make it easily look like you’ve made considerably more effort than you have by adding in a jot of colour. These belts will last for ages and make even the most boring of outfits look beautiful.
Dorothy Perkins first started life as the not-so-catchy named ‘Ladies Hosiery and Underwear Limited’ back in 1909. Rebranded to the name we all know and love today in 1939, the branding came about as a suggestion from the director’s wife. 75 stores were operating and were best known for their five-shilling blouses – starting as they meant to go on with great value clothing!
It was 1977 that saw Dotty Ps open on Oxford Street in London with a large flagship store of 7,500ft. This shop is still in place today… although now joined by hundreds of others and thousands of concessions. Broadening out to support more women, the shop introduced a maternity range in 1993, a petite range in 1998 and a tall range in 2001. In 1999, the website and online store opened and in 2012 the brand hit all-time popularity with the Kardashian Kollection in collaboration with the world-famous sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian.
Today, Dorothy Perkins continues to grow and can now boast outlets in Spain, Gibraltar, Cyprus, Singapore and Turkey. The future looks bright… and feminine!
