Does House of Fraser do Free Delivery?
There are lots of different delivery options at House of Fraser. Unfortunately, there are no House of Fraser free delivery options. There is standard delivery which takes between 3-7 days and costs £4.99. Then there is click & collect but that also costs £4.99. This is a bit expensive for collect orders at a nominated House of Fraser store but there you go.
There is next day delivery for £7.99 and you need to order by 6pm to qualify. So as you can see there are some great delivery options but even standard delivery costs. House of Fraser was founded in 1849 by Hugh Fraser and James Arthur as a small drapery shop in Glasgow, originally trading as Arthur & Fraser. Bringing in customers from their existing jobs, Fraser and Arthur went on to open a wholesale store a few years later as the business grew. When Fraser died, his three sons inherited stakes in the company, and the flagship store in Oxford Street opened in 1879. By 1900, Hugh Fraser II had taken over, and he introduced the stag’s head branding still prominent throughout the chain today.
In 1927, the company diversified, opening a tea room, a restaurant and starting a round of acquisitions of other companies. By 1974, House of Fraser had even been discussed in the House of Commons, as it intended to merge with Boots, but this merger was ultimately blocked.
PROGRESSION AND TODAY – A UK INSTITUTION
The company as it is today hosts a successful website and numerous large department stores in major towns and cities across the UK. Now a household name in the country, most Brits have shopped in one at least once. House of Fraser is now a subsidiary of the Highland Group Holdings Co, which is partly owned by Landsbanki.
According to the University of Glasgow the company was founded in 1849, when partners Hugh Fraser and James Arthur opened a small drapery shop on the corner of Argyle Street/Buchanan Street.
