Jacamo is primarily an online retailer but does have some high street outlet stores in selected cities across the UK. Their focus isn’t on haute couture or necessarily designer brands, but rather current, relevant fashion that flatters all figures and is affordable.
The real unique selling point of Jacamo is their wide size range, which allows guys of all shapes and sizes to stay stylish and wear something that looks like its actually been relevant in the last few months – a rarity for those of us who aren’t skinny or toned like a Men’s Health model!
The current Jacamo range is pretty all-encompassing, spanning day-to-day clothing, tailored smart wear and suits, activewear and gym-wear, sleepwear, accessories and shoes. The range is wide, not covering not just sizes but also types and budgets.
Jacamo’s own range of clothing, accessories and shoes aren’t budget as such, but do fit a nice high-street budget, and some of their third-party designers such as Adidas, Burton, Ben Sherman, Lacoste, Nike and Wrangler fit a more premium price point – so whatever you have in your wallet, you’ll find something to fit both your body and your budget.
You’ll likely have seen Jacamo ads on the TV, and you’ll have noticed that these don’t fit the standard menswear marketing drivel. Instead, you’ll see the likes of Johnny Vegas, Freddy Flintoff and even Average-Joe models plucked from social media. This is fashion for guys that’s inclusive, diverse, and really is for everyone. You can like clothes without looking like you’ve spent too much time, effort or money on your outfit… and with Jacamo, that’ll really be the case!
Furthermore, Jacamo differentiates itself from other ‘fast fashion’ online retailers by setting out stringent ethical guidelines for their supply chain, production, manufacture and service. Based on the Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code, working practices are fair, decently-paid and all well within best practice guidelines: so you can shop worry-free but still conveniently.
As with many online retailers, Jacamo’s student discount varies. Check back here with Student Discount Squirrel for the latest flash sales, voucher codes and discount events… we’ll keep you frugal AND fashionable!
Jacamo was founded in 2007 as a sub-brand of the N Brown Group, a firm specialising in online retailers based in Manchester, England. Designed specifically for 25-45 year old men to fill a gap in the menswear market, Jacamo launched with the aim of stocking more clothing sizes than anyone else, in order to appeal to men everywhere rather than just a specific fashion-focused subset. Marketing quickly began with celebrities that most wouldn’t associate with fashion; such as Johnny Vegas and Freddy Flintoff; and appeal stacked quickly for the men of the UK. It set about disrupting the menswear market and challenging the existing players there – which it definitely has done.
The ‘British modern man’ is well catered for by Jacamo, and their ethos in sizing remains to this day. They admit that they don’t focus on catwalk couture, but instead ‘looking sharp on your own terms’; no matter your style, size or budget.
The N Brown Group is home to several other e-commerce retailers you may know, including SimplyBe, JD Williams and Figleaves. Several bricks-and-mortar stores of all of these brands were opened between 2017 and 2018, but the company has decided since to re-focus back on the internet – so these are set to close shortly.
