London is one of the top Premier Inn short breaks destinations for tourists, students or business people. It’s fair to say that the bright lights attract people from all over the UK and indeed the world.  But how can you book a cheap hotel room in the capital? It can seem like an impossible task. We reveal how-to and other top tips in our blog.

When visiting the capital a lot of visitors don’t actually spend much time in their hotels as they are either sight-seeing, working or partying For that reason it’s fair to say that many don’t want to pay a lot of money for a room they’ll just sleep in. In light of that, cheap and budget hotels are really popular. In this guide, we’re here to show you the best Premier Inn locations and how to make sure you get your room for the best price when they send you an email confirmation.

So our first tip, if you want a cheaper room for hotels in London is to look further away from the centre and popular tourist areas like Soho and Victoria (zone 1) to places a little further out can save you money. The Student Squirrel has highlighted some of these locations below and the average hotel rating of 4 stars from guest surveys.

Recommended Outdoor London Areas to Consider Staying

The below are areas that we recommend staying in when visiting London. Each of these areas has lots going on locally and the journey to the city centre is not far at all, this makes many of them ideal and great value for money.

  • Chiswick
  • Brixton
  • Archway
  • Clapham
  • Hammersmith
  • Putney Bridge
  • Hampstead
  • West Brompton
  • Hackney
  • Greenwich
  • Angel

Some Central Hotel Options to Consider

However, the distance from the centre of London does not always mean you can’t find cheaper rooms nearer the city centre. On the same search we found rooms between £50-£70/night in the following more central areas:

  • City (Old Street)
  • Spitalfields
  • Kings Cross
  • Aldgate
  • Farringdon
  • Tower Bridge
  • Tower Hill
  • Westminster Abbey
  • St James’s Park

PREMIER INN HUB HOTELS

Some of these London Premier Inns in the centre have cheap rooms, that is because they are Premier Inn hub hotels. This means they have more compact rooms than normal ie smaller but are a great way of offering students a cheaper stay.

While these hub rooms are smaller, they are stylish and contemporary and they have a priority of keeping guests safe. They have a Hypnos bed, large smart tv, free fast wifi, fold up desk and storage, free tea and coffee 24/7 and monsoon showers. Seeing as London is an expensive place for hotel rooms (often running into hundreds of pounds) unless you want to stay in a hostel and share with others in a dormitory, we think this is a great way for students to spend a night in the UK’s capital.

If you are coming to do tourist activities such as sightseeing, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the museums and take in London’s pubs and clubs, then you will probably want to stay in the centre. As you can see there are Premier Inn hotels all over the centre (or zone 1). While it’s a bit more expensive usually to stay here, there are some great locations that are close to the action and students will save some money on your travel card.
