2. Are there Debenhams NUS Totum or Student Beans Discounts?
There are a lot of different student discount schemes nowadays. Long gone are the times when it was just your NUS card that unlocked the reductions. Now there is NUS Extra, Unidays, Student Beans and other smaller programmes plus promo codes where you don’t even need to be a student.
As there is no official student discount for Debenhams, that means there is no Debenhams Unidays, Student Beans or NUS discount.
3. Debenhams Discount Code, Promo Codes & Vouchers
There is no better feeling than putting some amazing fashion, gifts and homewares in your online basket and finding a promo code to get a juicy discount or free delivery offer applied. It means one more drink down the student union doesn’t it!
There is no permanent Debenhams student discount NUS code BUT they regularly release voucher codes throughout the year which last a week or two so you have to be quick to get them.
The next dilemma; where to find these Debenhams discount codes. Well the answer is right here in our savings section at the beginning of this guide. If there are any current codes then they will be right here.
Previous codes have included:
- 15% off beauty
- 10% off all full priced items over £30
- Free home delivery
Some current offers include:
|70% Off in the Blue Cross Sale||March 2019||No|

4. Debenhams Sales Alerts & Savings Tips
Every few months they have an amazing Blue Cross Sale on all their brands they house in store and online.
This means up to 50% off regular priced items.
This can be worthwhile keeping an eye on, as they stock Miss Selfridge, Topman, Topshop, Oasis, John Rocha and Ted Baker to name a few.
We also list below the Debenhams big sales that happen every year as this is the way for students to get the biggest discounts.
Debenhams Black Friday & Cyber Monday
In the run up to Black Friday Debenhams has a 50% sale on selected items as a teaser if you like!
Then once Black Friday arrives they put a lot of fabulous gift type half price deals in the sale such as games, electricals including coffee makers and amazing clothing too. A great time to get that little black dress for the Christmas University balls!
Debenhams Christmas, Boxing Day & January Sales
The Squirrel spotted that the Debenhams winter sale started online on 22 December! It’s a big 50% sale on all departments including dresses, homeware and electicals.
Then around Boxing Day an additional 10% is added! As we enter January there are further discounts applied so you can pick up some real bargains, but you might find the choice and clothing sizes reduced as the hot deals sell out.
Also sometimes it’s possible for students to get a 20% Debenhams student discount. To get it, follow this link to debenhams.com and apply for a store card. Make sure you pay off any payments made though or you’ll be paying interest on your balance.
5. Debenhams Store Overview & Student Picks
A branch of British department store Debenhams can be found on the high street of most cities and towns across the country, and it’s a firm household name.
Whether you’re shopping for casual clothing, formalwear, shoes, household items, holidays or handbags, you’ll find it in a Debenhams store.
Debenhams stocks its own range of products as well as concessions from a variety of third party brands; many of them extremely famous.
The growth of consumer culture in the 19th century saw the introduction of department stores across the globe, and Debenhams was one of the first of this wave in the UK. Catering to a range of customers across a range of markets, it offers a fantastic selection of goods both online and off.
The Debenhams fashion department includes both menswear and womenswear with an array of third-party brand concessions. This allows high-end clothing brands to have a presence on high streets around the country without investing into premises and in the UK, includes labels such as Oasis, Warehouse, Karen Millen, Dorothy Perkins, Fiorelli, Mango, Ms Selfridge, Barbour, Fred Perry and Ben Sherman.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for in a bricks-and-mortar branch of Debenhams, don’t worry: all brands are available to buy online through the Debenhams website.
You’ll also find the classic department store staple of a well-stocked beauty department across the ground floor in most branches. This includes a selection of well-known beauty brands and make-up counters as well as a perfume counter, and in some stores, full beauty and massage salons for customers to be pampered and preened in!
And that’s not all.
Debenhams also houses great departments of lingerie, homeware, furniture, kidswear, toys, electricals and gifts.
Some stores even have travel agents for holiday bookings, bureau de change facilities for currency conversions and wedding shops for everything you could possibly need for your big day… or someone else’s. You can also pick up store card and finance facilities and insurance products – but of course as with any financial purchase, Student Discount Squirrel never advises making purchases of this type without seeking professional advice.
There are now 178 Debenhams department stores in the UK, as well as Debenhams Ireland stores in well, Ireland, and Magasin du Nord stores in Denmark. The Debenhams name has been franchised for use in over 25 countries worldwide including Bahrain, Cyprus, Jordan, Qatar and Turkey… so you’ll find one on your nearest high street and most probably, one on your holidays too!
Whatever you’re in the market for, you’re bound to find a bargain at Debenhams. Shop online or off for sofas, Sonos systems, sweaters or sunscreen… it’s all in-store!
Top Student Buy: Home Collection Basics Double Duvet – £26.00
Good bedding is worth investing in for uni, as you’ll no doubt often find yourself needing to catch up on some sleep! The Debenhams Home Collection Basics range offers quality at great prices, and their duvet and pillow cover sets come in a variety of designs to suit all tastes and room interiors. What’s more, they’re all double-sided, so when things are beginning to look a bit grubby (or, OK, you just fancy a change), you can flip them over for a fresh design. If you don’t have a double bed or duvet, don’t fret: these are available in all sizes.
Top Student Buy: George Foreman Black Compact Two Portion Grill – £15.00
A lean, mean, fat grilling machine; George Foreman grills remain a great kitchen staple for all. This bargain health grill has an extra hinge for thick cuts of food, including meat, vegetables and toasted sandwiches. If it can be grilled, the George Foreman can take it on and you’ll have dinner ready in no time at all. This is a double portion appliance so allows for food preparation for now and later… how very healthy!
Top Student Buy: Yankee Candle Medium Scented Candle in Cinnamon Stick – £12.00
Student flats aren’t always the loveliest smelling of places, but you don’t need your room to be dragged down with the rest of the place. Yankee Candles is well-reputed as the strongest and longest lasting home fragrance brand, and that’s why they’re normally pretty expensive – but Debenhams has a real bargain here, at about half of the usual recommended retail price. This cinnamon scent cuts through anything unpleasant and lasts for ages, even after you’ve blown it out. Bliss!
Debenhams has a rich history and was launched officially in 1778 as a draper’s store in Wigmore Street, London. Founded by William Clark, the name Debenham wasn’t actually introduced until 1813, when William Debenham came on-board as a business partner. The business grew to other cities and quickly gained popularity.
Incorporated as Debenhams Limited in 1905, the business began buying up independent department stores and later rolled out a corporate chain identity to introduce consistency. The product lines began to grow to a more consistent ‘core’ range, and after targeting by animal rights groups, the chain stopped stocking real fur.
In the 21st century, Debenhams began to purchase some of the concessions based within it and diversified their business portfolio. Their stores quickly became the go-to flagship retailer for large shopping malls including Birmingham’s Bull Ring, their biggest retail space in the UK. The website’s full e-commerce store was launched, and when rival chain BHS went into administration, Debenhams took on several members of their key staffing teams to boost the business.
Today, there’s almost 180 Debenhams department stores across the UK and has a retail presence under other names worldwide. A profitable and ever-evolving business, the company continues to diversify and develop to keep up with consumer expectations and demand.
And remember how we advised you it’s better to shop with Debenhams online, this is even more of a reason. On these Blue Cross Sale days, the stock can all become mixed up and they sell very quickly out of the most popular items and sizes.
Plus, the changing rooms are always manic. Shop their Blue Cross Sale online to get the same, if not better discounts as in store.
The website is also ‘open’ 24 hours a day so you get earlier access to these offers and the clothes you receive are in pristine condition and you can try them on in the comfort of your own room. We love online shopping.
We will keep this page updated with latest offers. We will also post on our Facebook page. Even without a permanent student discount place it is possible to make some great savings when buying online at debenhams.com.
